| How?? |
[Nov. 24th, 2009|09:06 am] |
I have a few LJ syndicates on my friends list already.
They're from a blogging site called ameba.
I can't seem to figure out how I added them. I know how I added one of them and that was from a profile that had the lj feed already there.
How can I add more? Do I have to create an account or something? There is the rss feed option on the site, but I can't get it over to LJ. |

| Time to abandon LJ syndication? |
[Oct. 28th, 2009|06:10 pm] |
Given the past three days of LJ failing to update RSS feeds, I'm ready to ditch LJ for a better RSS reader.
Is there a way to get the LJ friends page to show only non-public/locked posts? |

Does someone need to kick the cronjob that pulls feeds? |

Is there an appropriate venue or community for promoting new feeds? I just added picturelogic's feed to LJ, and I think a wider audience would be interested. Where do I pimp it? |

| Entity bug? |
[Sep. 9th, 2006|07:54 pm] |
Hi,
I believe there is a bug in the code that handles RSS feeds. Have a look at rijksfeed, and the asociated feed. All the links in the entry point to the wrong place. This is because LJ is interpreting the sequence '&lang' in the link as an entity reference It's somewhere in the HTML cleaner/display code apparently -- (trying to use it as an entity reference), which should never happen because it doesn't end with a ;. So, what's the procedure for getting this fixed?
Edit : See the support request. |

| Статья о RSS: "Тотально о RSS. (for blogers and dummies)" |
[Jun. 11th, 2006|06:04 pm] |
Здравствуйте. Вашему вниманию представляю статью "Тотально о RSS. (for blogers and dummies)", которая призвана объяснить, что такое RSS, агрегаторы, клиенты, ридеры и ленты. В статье также рассказывается о способе "обхода" лимита френдования (в 750 человек). Заранее благодарен за ваши комментарии и замечания.
Начало статьи: ... ...- что такое RSS, ATOM, Feed

| RSS entries become entries on your LJ |
[Apr. 14th, 2006|07:58 pm] |

Most of the effort of LJ syndication seems to focus on getting RSS feeds into your friends page or getting your LJ on some other webpage. Can one make an RSS feed be part of your LJ itself? By this I mean that you could add a RSS feed to your journal, and when that feed updated LJ would post that entry as a new entry on your LJ. For example if I added a flickr RSS feed to my account whenever I uploaded a photo to flickr, it would appear as if I posted it to LJ. I could set up a feed for my flickr photos and get my friends to subcribe to that on their friends page, but that's a bit too much hassle. Can this be done? If not, would anyone else like this feature? I'd upgrade to a paid account if it could be done. |

So I'm trying to set up a site to work with MagpieRSS and ljMagpie; trouble is, I need the journal to parse into one of those pesky iFrames, and following the comment links causes the actual LJ page to load up inside the frame and really gums up the works. Does anybody know a good way to change the php so that the comment link will open up the original Livejournal entry in a new window? All attempts on my end have gone awry so far. |

| Syndicating not just posts? |
[Feb. 14th, 2006|05:53 pm] |
| [ | music |
| | Bjork - Pagan Poetry | ] | Currently I've got my website set up to work quite nicely. It uses MagpieRSS, and ljMagpie by Angela Sabas, to parse the RSS feed of my LJ entries.
There's other information I was wondering if there was a way to get from LJ, though:
1) List of tags used At http://ramakesava.livejournal.com/tag there's a list of my current tag use. I was wondering it was possible to pull that across as just a bulleted list of tags with links and counts?
2) At http://ramakesava.livejournal.com/2006/02, there's a list of this month's posts laid out nicely, by day, with number of comments and time. Can anyone think of a way to get that easily for, say, the last 20 posts?
3) Calendar There's a calendar in the style I'm using (see my LJ), where it fills in this month's calendar with a link to that day's posts. Is there a way to pull just that?
If anyone's got suggestions I'd really appreciate it--even if they're seemingly obvious! I'm thinking of redesigning my website and am thinking of incorporating these elements...
I would've asked on lj_nifty, because I got some of my ideas from looking there, but it says No Questions... |
